Options to Bankruptcy in Daly City?

Options to Bankruptcy in Daly City?

Options to Bankruptcy are Reviewed by a Daly City Bankruptcy Attorney

Often clients come to see me in my San Francisco law office serving Daly City, to discuss not only bankruptcy but also other options they may have. Of course one of my jobs as a bankruptcy attorney is to make sure that they fully understand every aspect of their situation, including alternatives to bankruptcy.

Debt Counseling

For some going to a debt counseling service can help put things in perspective, and they may be able to find relief as the debt counseling service helps to reduce interest and payments and to consolidate your debts. However, these reductions may be difficult to secure if your finances are in a severe situation.

Debt Consolidation

Some people take out debt consolidation loans by using the equity in their home. The money from the loans goes directly to paying off credit cards debts and other similar debts. However, these loans may have variable interest rates that can escalate and they do not eliminate debt; they simply shift it. There is some relief with this method.

Settlement Out-of-Court

This is basically a renegotiation of unsecured debt that is reduced and paid off. This is very difficult to do on your own. Usually, you’ll need a professional to handle negotiations and legal documents.

Credit Rating

Of course one of the concerns I hear from clients in my law office serving Daly City, regards their credit rating and what happens to it when they file for bankruptcy.  As a bankruptcy attorney, I’ve found that if someone is petitioning for bankruptcy that his/her credit rating is already low. And all of the options discussed above will also, like bankruptcy, weaken your credit rating even more. Weigh all options with a seasoned bankruptcy attorney prior to making any decisions.
